My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Trixie is a playful, sweet, and sometimes sassy bunny. She loves to run and is looking for a forever home that will allow time to free roam. Her favorite activity is chewing on rabbit-safe chew toys. BunnyPeople's policy is to adopt within a 60-mile radius of the shelter in Harrisburg, PA only.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Potential adopters should fill out our adoption contract and questionnaire, including a home phone number. We adopt to indoor homes only. All potential adopters are interviewed by phone before being approved. You must be screened by our adoption coordinator before visiting our shelter. Once approved, a BunnyPeople representative will meet you at a mutually convenient time for adoption. Our adoption fee is $50 per rabbit, and must be paid in cash or check only.

We have Open Hours at the shelter one Sunday a month. Check our Facebook page for the schedule!

More about this rescue

BunnyPeople was established as a 501(c)3 rabbit rescue, adoption and education organization in 1992. We operate a no-kill shelter that houses approximately 22 rabbits at any given time. While in our care, the rabbits receive a proper diet, exercise, human companionship and any medical attention needed until they are adopted. We strive to educate the public on responsible rabbit ownership, including guidelines on choosing a rabbit and proper care for these indoor pets. We discourage the purchase of rabbits as Easter gifts, since many are dumped a few months later. We also promote spaying and neutering not only for population control, but for the better health and longevity of each animal.
