My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I`m Gertie! I`m just a young pup, full of energy and ready to explore the world. My days are filled with playful antics and goofy moments that will make you laugh out loud. I love to play fetch and chase my tail, but I`m also quite curious. I love to sniff out new scents and discover new things. I`m always ready for a game or a new adventure. I`m friendly and I love making new friends. I can`t wait to meet you and become your new best friend. I promise to bring joy, laughter, and a whole lot of fun into your life.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The LA/SPCA pet adoption process includes meeting with a matchmaker to match your lifestyle with the perfect companion. You will spend time with any of the pets you think would be a great companion. You may even want to come back another day to make sure he is the one! All of our animals must be spayed or neutered before you can take them home. Sometimes your perfect companion has not had this procedure done, so please be patient with us if you have to come back to pick him up.

All of our animals have been spayed or neutered before they are released for adoption. We encourage anyone with animals to spay or neuter their pets.

More about this shelter

Chartered in 1888, the Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA/SPCA) is the oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization in the state. Our mission is to advocate for the animals of Louisiana by advancing their welfare, promoting their interests, and fostering the human-animal bond through innovative programs, education, and service.

The LA/SPCA is not a state, parish or city governed shelter. We are an independent 501(c)3 non-profit offering a broad range of services and programs including advocacy, legislative services, statewide cruelty investigations, sheltering, full-service animal control (Orleans Parish only), adoption, disaster response, education, and obedience programs.
