My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Frito was brought in by his previous owner on November 9, 2024

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Frito, a lively, affectionate, and treat-motivated boy who's ready to steal your heart! This high-energy pup is all about playtime, running, and going for walks! Frito is housetrained, crate-trained, and knows commands like "Go to crate." In a previous home, he enjoyed the company of a canine roommate and had escape tendencies - so watch those doors! Frito is a smart boy who needs mental and physical enrichment, such as puzzle games, training sessions, and outdoor activities. He can be a little tricky in the car, requiring a lift to get in and potentially getting carsick when the windows are down. Frito's new home should have no more than one child who must be over the age of 12. Frito's ideal family will give him the attention, structure, and fun he craves, with some positive reinforcement training to help him refine his leash walking and impulse control. If you're ready to take on an energetic, loving companion, Frito is waiting to be your new best friend!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
