My name is Benji!

Benji is a 5-year-old Chocolate Lab and Weimaraner mix with a heart as big as his goofy, clumsy self. We adopted Benji from a challenging past—he came from a home where he experienced neglect and, potentially, mistreatment. Although he’s come a long way, some trauma lingers, and he's still learning to feel fully safe and at ease.

Benji is a gentle, laid-back companion who thrives on affection. He adores children, including babies and toddlers, and has been a calm, sweet presence with our family’s young ones. He's happiest in at home with minimal stimuli.

He would do best in a home with a female dog or as the only dog, as he can be territorial and mildly aggressive with other male dogs. While he barks frequently and, once, bit an unfamiliar person who entered our home unexpectedly three years ago, we believe Benji’s behavior stems from protectiveness. His ideal family would be patient and understanding of his journey and need for security and structure.
