My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Galvin is an incredibly friendly and playful pup who's always eager to be the life of the party! His boundless enthusiasm and happy-go-lucky personality make him a delight to be around, and he quickly wins over the hearts of everyone he meets. Galvin is a huge fan of pets and attention, often greeting people by excitedly sniffing around or hopping up to say hello. His love for toys is unmatched-though be prepared for his toy-destroying superpowers, as he enthusiastically goes through even the toughest ones. Galvin is also a big fan of playing catch and tugging on his rope toy, making him the perfect companion for an active family ready for fun.

Though Galvin is great on leash, he's working on his loose leash walking and would do best with a harness to help him channel his energy. His jumpy, excitable nature makes him best suited for families with older kids who can handle his exuberance. When it's time to wind down, Galvin is surprisingly cuddly and loves curling up close after a day of play. He also does well in his crate, enjoying a cozy spot to relax. Just one quirk-he's not a fan of being tapped on his back, so he'll politely move if you do. Overall, Galvin is a lovable, fun-to-be-around pup who's ready to bring endless joy and excitement to his forever home.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
