More about this shelter

The SPCA was founded in 1979 to provide humane services to animals located in the county, including the prevention of cruelty to animals, the providing of humane care and treatment for all animals needing protection, seeking suitable homes for animals without owners, educating the public on humane animal treatment and promoting the need for spay/neutering of domestic pet animals.

Over the past 30 years, the organization has grown through the consistent efforts of the volunteers in the community and the caring donors who provided the funding to allow us to open our Veterinary Clinic and Adoption Center at 455 Cheney Highway in Titusville. This facility performed over 5,000 spays/neuters during our 2008 fiscal year while adopting out nearly 800 animals from our no-kill shelter. Additionally, we made our clinic available to the Space Coast Feline Network on six Sundays throughout the year allowing them to spay/neuter nearly 400 feral cats.

Our future goals include improving our animal care capabilities through better diagnostic equipment for our veterinarians and improving the physical space for animal care through expansions or additions to our existing facilities. Our new adoption center at 6035 Sisson road has a great atmosphere for our animals and our adopters. Our Thrift Stores on US 1 in Titusville and SR 3 in Merritt Island provide sources of revenue that help us to maintain adoption and clinic pricing at the lowest possible levels. Thanks to our generous donors and volunteers, the Thrift Stores continue to operate profitably and that profit is used to assist in funding the Adoption Center and Clinic.
