Meet Leika (pronounced “Like a”). Her favorite activities would have to be chasing and playing with other dogs, getting neck scratches behind the ears, and being near her human. Her foster describes her as sweet, energetic, happy. She loves to hang out and be near people and other dogs. She is still learning, but has been doing so at a pretty quick speed (consistent and regular positive reinforcement is the key with Leika). She loves chasing her brother foster dog around and playing fetch with him. She loves going to the lake and absolutely LOVES the water. When I found her she was alone at the park chasing birds in the shallow water of Hefner. Leika is a high energy dog, will need regular outside activities to live her best life. Having a big back yard of her own would be very good for her. Having a sibling dog who likes to play would also make her very happy. Leika has had no problem with any of the dogs I have introduced her to, including my own. She loves to play. I have not brought her around any cats. She has only been around a 5 year old since I found her a few weeks ago, which went well. She LOVES being held and cuddled. She has learned Sit and stay (these are newer to her so sometimes she’s slower with them and if there are a lot of distractions she may not hear the command). I have also taught her “outside” to go out the doggy door into the courtyard. She seems to understand the difference when she hears “Bad” versus “good”. She has been mostly good with going to the bathroom outside, however if she is not taken outside early in the morning, she is more likely to have an accident.

Adoption Process
We have an open adoption policy, so there is no application or interview process. We simply ask that you meet the pet in person before adoption. We have adoption specialists that will help you find the right pet for your family.
Adoption Center
The Adoption Center is located at 7500 N. Western Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. Our Adoption Center is a totally new concept in Oklahoma City where dogs have comfortable, expanded kennels and cats stay in “living rooms” with furniture and toys.
Pets by Appointment
Some amazing dogs get stressed out in a kennel environment like our Adoption Center, and much prefer staying at their foster home until they find their new family. If you see a dog on our website that says “E-Mail to Meet Me” that means that this furry friend is just a click away from getting a ride to the Adoption Center to meet you in person.
Adoption Fees
Adult dogs are $150 to adopt, puppies are $200 to adopt, adult cats are $75 to adopt and kittens are $95 to adopt. All of our pets are microchipped, spayed or neutered, treated with all age-appropriate vaccinations and flea, tick, and heartworm preventative prior to being cleared for adoption, so we put a lot of effort and monetary investment into each of our animals including a two-week quarantine period in a foster home. These adoption fees help cover the costs of our animals’ health and well-being!
