My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Winnie: An Adorable & Incredibly Brave Skye Terrier Looking for Her Forever Home

Name: Winnie
Age: ~3 years old
Breed: Skye Terrier
Gender: Female

Winnie is a remarkable and resilient Skye Terrier who has endured more than her fair share of hardships. Rescued from a deplorable puppy mill hoarding situation, Winnie was found severely matted, underfed and had little to no social interaction. Despite her rough start, Winnie has shown incredible strength and a desire to embrace a new, loving life.

Personality: Winnie is initially shy and reserved, but with patience and understanding, she reveals her true, delightful personality. She has a funny and endearing side that shines through once she feels safe. Winnie loves to join in on “dog” activities and is eager to be part of the pack. She has impeccable leash manners, knows how to sit and stay, and is currently mastering the down command.

Ideal Home:

  • Patience and Understanding: Winnie needs an adopter who is willing to invest the time and effort to earn her trust and love.

  • Dog-Friendly Companion: Another friendly dog in the home is essential to help Winnie feel more comfortable and confident.

  • Fenced Yard: A secure, fenced yard is necessary to provide Winnie with a safe space to explore and play.

  • No Young Children: Due to her shy nature, a home without young children is preferred.

Winnie is looking for a special person or family who can offer her the love, stability, and patience she needs to thrive. If you have the heart and dedication to help Winnie blossom, she will reward you with unwavering loyalty and affection.

Are you ready to give Winnie the forever home she deserves?

************************************
Winnie is located in a foster home. We are happy to coordinate a meet & greet for pre-approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at https://bit.ly/USAHOTNADOPT2024

Adoption process:
Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved.

From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption.

Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption.
