After a Glenwood family's home was damaged due to Hurricane Helene, they reached out to SoCo Rescue seeking help in re-homing the dogs that they had. Initially they stated that they had 20 dogs, but that number soared to 28 dogs once Scott Bennett arrived to the house. Most of the dogs, which ranged in ages from 2 months to 4 years old, suffered major hair loss due to flea and mite infestation. The worst were the five little puppies who were missing all of their fur, having open, bloody wounds from constant scratching and very anemic. Scott knew if them then they would most likely perish so he took them to SoCo Rescue and immediately began their care. While they haven't regrown all of their fur, the pups are looking and feeling much better and should make a full recovery.
For such a small dog, KoKo is full of spunk and enthusiasm. But that's not to say she isn't also very friendly and affectionate. She's very playful and gets along great with other dogs and thrives on human contact. She will make an excellent choice for anyone looking for a little lap dog, and will do very well around children who are knowledgable in handling a small dog.
KoKo has received 2 of her 3 first year vaccinations as well as her rabies and Bordetella vaccinations. She's also been de-wormed, treated for parasites and started on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. She will require grooming on a regular basis. We strongly suggest keeping her on Nexgard flea/tick preventative for at least the first 6 months of life then switching to Bravecto as both of those products work very well in treating a number of skin issues. KoKo's adopter must agree to having her spay once she reaches 6 months of age and providing verification of such to our rescue. KoKo will require all of her basic training. She is accustomed to being in a crate as well.
