My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
King was brought in by a community member on November 5, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
King may not have his crown, but he's still royalty in the making! This sweet senior cat is ready to reign over a quiet, cozy home where he can bask in the love and comfort he truly deserves. While King isn't fond of being picked up or held, he absolutely adores his wet food-his royal feast of choice-and will gladly accept your offerings as you earn his trust. On 12/5/24, King underwent the first stage of a dental procedure, where most of his diseased teeth were removed. However, additional dental care is still needed to finish the job, and his new family will be responsible for completing this important part of his care. To make it easier to open your home to this majestic guy, his adoption fee is waived. King can be a bit shy at first and would thrive in a calm, quiet environment where he can take his time to adjust and bond. He may prefer to be the only cat in his new kingdom, but his heart is open to patience, treats, and a little bit of playtime. If you're looking for a low-key companion with a regal touch and a soft spot for snack time, King is ready to meet you! Bring a top-loading carrier and prepare to welcome home this gentle soul.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
