My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beauty came to us through our Animal Protection Department alongside a few other dogs. Before arriving in our care, her world was pretty small, so she's still a bit nervous with new experiences. But she is determined to shake off her jitters and is working hard every day to be braver. With the help of her favorite treat hot dogs, she's making great progress in her exposure training!

Given her shy nature, Beauty would thrive in a calm, quiet home without too many loud noises or surprises. She bonds deeply once she gets to know you, becoming a loyal shadow who adores her people. She's playful and has recently discovered the joy of toys, often bringing them over to show off. As she continues to build confidence, we know she'll become a fantastic walking companion and adventure buddy.

Beauty has so much potential and just needs a loving, patient family to help her blossom into the wonderful, well-rounded dog we know she can be. If you're ready for a loyal, fun-loving companion, Beauty might just be your perfect match!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
