My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mini came to us through our Animal Protection Department with some of her siblings. Her world was quite limited before coming into our care, so she's still adjusting to new experiences. Despite her initial nerves, Mini warms up quickly, especially when treats are involved.

Puppies need lots of attention and a safe environment for them to grow into great pets. Like any baby, Mini is constantly learning. She will need help to learn the rules in a new house, things like, what to play with, where to go to the bathroom, where to sleep to name a few. She'll need annual health checks with her veterinarian for the rest of her life to keep her in optimum health. Raising a puppy is a big commitment but well worth it when you consider they will be a part of your family for many years.

Adopting Mini means gaining a friend who will always be there to share in life's simple pleasures, a friend who will bring love, warmth, and happiness into your home.

If Mini sounds like the right fit for your home, please fill out an application from the Shuswap branch below!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
