Meet Cooper, an adult dog with a heart full of curiosity and courage. He`s a proud, independent soul with a stubborn streak that only makes him more endearing. He`s got a knack for exploration, often seen sniffing out new corners of his surroundings, using his 66 pounds to encourage you to keep up. His character is a testament to his resilience as he quietly accepts his situation of being in a shelter after being found as a stray. Cooper`s interest in other dogs makes him a social butterfly, always eager to make new friends but we haven`t seen him interact with his shelter neighbors yet nor children. He seems to be house trained too, which is a bonus for any potential adopter. Cooper`s spirit is truly unique and he`s ready to bring joy and adventure into a loving home. Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.
CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
