My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member on 10/16/2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
When you first meet Lucky, you may notice that she is a little reserved. However, Lucky's heart is as big as her gentle eyes, and with a little patience and understanding, she warms up quickly. She's not one to rush into things, but once she feels comfortable, her true affectionate nature shines.

Lucky's approach to new people is thoughtful and calm. When you enter her space, she may bark a little, but once she sees that you're friendly, she'll soften and approach you with a wagging tail. During walks, Lucky may take a little time to adjust, but once she gets going, she walks well on a loose leash. She enjoys sniffing around and exploring her surroundings, frequently looking back at her handler.

Lucky's affection shows when she comes to you for pets. She enjoys leaning into your legs, offering her gentle presence, and will happily accept pets on her back and under her chin. She's also been known to sit on laps or place her paws on your legs when she's feeling especially cuddly. Lucky can be a little shy sometimes, but she is affectionate when she feels secure. With a little time, she will begin to seek out your attention on her own terms, offering you affection and tail wags in return.

If you'd like to learn more about Lucky and are ready to spoil her with lots of love come visit us at the San Diego Campus today! Don't forget a leash and collar..

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
