My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Aloha! My name is Makue (Mah-ku-eh), and I come all the way from Kauai, where I was found as a stray and brought to the Kauai Humane Society. Some nice people helped get me transported to PupStarz Rescue in New York so I would have a better chance at finding a forever home.

I am 1 year 8 month old, 50 pounds wonderful Whippet/ Pit Bull/ Pointer mix dog with the most beautiful coat and mesmerizing eyes. I love humans and will immediately try to sit on your lap and snuggle against you at first meeting. I get along well with my two foster dog sisters and follow their lead but I would love to be an only dog too, because I LOVE human attention and am a velcro dog. I want to be attached to my foster mom at all times and love to cuddle.

While I do get along with most dogs, I wouldn't be a good fit in a home with small dogs or cats. I'm not food aggressive at all, and am fine with humans touching me and brushing my teeth. I'm mostly housetrained, but I don't know how to "ask" to go outside yet, but if you have a pee pad inside, I will use it. I need work on my leash walking because I get too excited and will pull, but I'm getting better at it!

I can't wait to meet my new forever family. Are you my person? If so, I will love you unconditionally and give you so much affection. Please adopt me!

More about this rescue

PupStarz Rescue is an animal welfare group committed to the rescue and rehabilitation of dogs and cats in public shelters at high risk of euthanasia, as well as those in danger of abuse. We are committed to rescuing as many animals as possible, saving over 2,600 dogs and cats since 2015.

PupStarz Rescue is a foster-based rescue, relying on fosters to open their homes and lives to our Animals. Animals in our care receive proper medical care, including alteration, vaccinations, and microchipping.

Following a thorough screening, our animals are placed in loving, responsible, committed forever homes. PupStarz Rescue ensures that adoptions are an appropriate match for both the animal and their new family by educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a furry companion into their lives.

We are committed to the welfare of our "Starz" beyond the adoption process. We maintain open communication with our adopters to ensure a smooth transition, and offer additional support such as positive training techniques.

Founded in 2015, PupStarz Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)3, no-kill, animal rescue organization.
