My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Patty,

Patty is a high energy, active girl looking for a new lease on life. She is easily overwhelmed in busy environments and is looking for an adult only home in a QUIET, RURAL AREA where she can continue to work on her desensitization to the world around her.

Patty is looking for a home with yard access; apartment and city living will not be appropriate for her needs. She is an affectionate dog who loves to play fetch and engage with her toys. Being a smart breed, she does well with enrichment tools and scent work. Patty is house trained and would love a yard to continue to work on her obedience training. Patty responds very well to positive reinforcement both using food and toys as motivation.

She is looking for a calm and patient guardian who can continue to work on her behaviour modification. Patty can become overstimulated quickly and requires a guardian who understands her body language when growing anxious.
Patty is excellent with other outgoing dogs and would do well with another medium-large breed canine companion in the home.

If you are ready to take on a new dog, please drop in from 12pm-3pm Tuesday-Sunday to meet Patty and fill out an application, or, apply online through the BC SPCA website.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
