Hi, I`m Spenny! I`m a lovable coonhound mix who is finally ready for my forever home! I`m a typical hound dog with all the good things that brings. I`m smart, independent-thinking, curious, and loyal. I love to go on long walks where I can just follow my nose and explore. I also love to play with toys. In fact, when I go out to the yard, I head straight for the toy box and open it up with my nose! My favorite toys are the squeaky ones. When I`m finally tired out, I love to get a lot of attention from my people. I`ve been working on my obedience, and everyone says I am doing great because I am so treat-motivated! Being a hound, I spend a bit of time baying just to let everyone know what is on my mind, so if you are looking for a dog with excellent communication skills, that`s me! I am dog selective, meaning I can make friends with some dogs but not others. I`d make an amazing, devoted companion for someone looking for an energetic, independent-minded dog to join them on all their adventures. The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, no-kill animal rescue that was founded in 1972 in the western suburbs of Chicago. WSHS now finds homes for more than 500 dogs and cats each year!
WSHS is 100% funded by individual, corporate, and private foundations donations, and has over 450 active volunteers! WSHS is caring for about 200 animals at any given time.
