🐾🖤🌴Meet Hiker, a “Sato dog” from Puerto Rico! A “Sato dog” refers to the small to medium-sized stray dogs on the island. Island dogs are smart, loyal, highly trainable, and thrive on routines and consistency. They have wonderful demeanors, make devoted companions, adjust well to their environments, and are a perfect mix of energetic and affectionate. There is no love like the love of an island dog.
Hiker was found in Luquillo, Puerto Rico by his foster family while they were on vacation. He has had quite the journey and now shares his foster home with another dog and another fostered Sato (Chelsea). He is a spunky dude that is always looking for a good time, yet enjoys being a couch potato. Hiker loves the outdoors, going on adventures, rides like a pro in the car, and enjoys meeting new people. His favorite adventures include: Hiking, exploring local towns, and visiting dog friendly restaurants. He walks well on a leash, crate trained, and house trained. Hiker loves toys, (especially his favorite ball), enjoys cuddles, and is eager to please. This boy is extremely food motivated and has been receptive to training concepts. There is no aggression with food/treats and is respectful to the other dogs. Hiker gets along well with various other dogs but does best around less “rowdy” demeanors. He has had brief interaction with kids and raised no concerns. He has been around cats back in his foster home on the island with no issues. (Mom and dad are unknown). Hiker will make a great buddy, don’t you agree?😊
