Here's what the humans have to say about me:
OJ came to Dakin with his brother Cheese Pizza. While that may not sound like an appetizing combination, the two got along well! OJ is a sweetheart who greeted the Dakin staff with the traditional cat greeting, the head boop. He's a friendly, affectionate, fearless boy who is fantastic with kids and, as his previous person put it, well mannered! He got along great with Cheese Pizza and was cordial to the new dog, but kept his distance. You never know what to expect from the new furball on the block. OJ loves ear and neck pets but his belly screams, "Off limits!" He is selective when it comes to who can pick him up. OJ plays gently with your hands and feet, loves swatting at wand toys and the sound of crackly toys is music to his ears. He is accustomed to going outdoors but doesn't wander far. If you're not only thirsty (for OJ), but you're also hungry, Cheese Pizza would be a nice addition to your daily menu. Why not double your fun?
This cat has specific litterbox needs. When you bring this cat home they will need to be set up in a room by themselves. This cat will go home with a behavior plan that you will need to follow in order for them to use the litterbox reliably.
If you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways:
Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt.
**the below two methods are slower than visiting us**
Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours.
All cat adoption fees include;
-spay/neuter
-rabies vaccine
-current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian)
-FeLV/FIV blood test
-microchip implanted & registered to the adopter
-treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites
-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin
-free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians
Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.
