My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Luckey is a sweet senior lady (about 12 years old) who deserves the good luck of settling into a forever home.

We actually don't know what led to Luckey receiving her name, but she sure could use a lucky break now. She has lost everyone she has ever known, and through no fault of her own she has been moved six times just in the past year. Fingers and toes are crossed hoping that her next move will be lucky number 7, where she can peacefully relax and have some much-needed stability.

In previous homes, Luckey lived with 1-3 other cats, an older dog, and up to 4 adult humans. She is friendly, adaptable, and resilient. She also knows how to stay out from under your feet! In a busier home Luckey would prefer some quiet time, maybe while everyone was at work...or some private space that would allow her to enjoy her treasured beauty sleep. While noise and chaos don't seem to bother her, young children or a rambunctious puppy might not be her cup of tea.

Low-key Luckey would adapt well to a small apartment, and she would thrive in a calm, stable environment with a cozy chair and a warm lap to snuggle into. This Luckey charm has a magic switch that turns on sweet purrs as soon as you touch her.

Luckey is quiet and independent, yet she can be quirky and spunky on occasion. She will play quietly with a catnip toy, a feather wand, or a ball in a track. Out of the blue she'll zip across the room or strike up a conversation, sometimes with her human and sometimes all on her own.

She may explore s bit but does not get up on counters. In fact, this delicate darling would appreciate steps or a bench to help her older joints get up on a higher bed or a favorite sunny perch. She is very polite and will usually wait for an invitation before jumping up to join you.

In addition to losing all her previous companions, Luckey recently lost all but 5 of her teeth, and she also previously had all her front claws removed. Some good quality soft food, vet care, and gentle kindness is really all this old gal needs to be happy-go-Luckey. This gal deserves the very best in her golden years and will give back so much companionship and gentle affection in return.

So, how would you like to get Luckey, and let her be the key to your heart? She is so ready for some lasting love!

Boots is a 15-year-old tabby with beautiful brown markings. She’s a loving, cuddly companion who adores attention. Often reaching up like a child to ask to be picked up, she’ll be your constant shadow. Boots is also a professional biscuit maker and loves a good game with the laser pointer. She enjoys lounging on her human’s lap or even perching on their back for snuggles.

However, Boots can be a bit possessive of her favorite humans and would do best in a home without other animals, or with calm, laid-back pets, provided she has her own space and plenty of affection. She is currently in stage 3 kidney disease and is searching for a special home where she can live out her days surrounded by love and care.

Luckey is an 11-year-old calico with striking blue eyes and a relaxed personality. She likes to spend her time exploring, lounging in sun beams, and playing with catnip toys. Luckey is also quite vocal, engaging in conversational meows with her humans. You’ll often find her nestled on a pillow near your head, her calming purr machine in full swing.

Both lovely ladies are BIG fans of the cat water fountain, so it would be great if their forever home had one of these!

This dynamic duo currently lives with two other cats and a senior dog, but Boots can get possessive of her humans and space. They’re looking for a quiet home with humans who can provide Boots with the extra care she needs in her senior years. (This includes giving oral medications, with the possibly of administering subcutaneous fluids as needed in the future.) These lovely cats are ready to live out their golden days in peace and comfort.

If you're ready to welcome 8 paws, endless purrs, and your very own "Luckey pair of Boots," don’t wait—apply below and bring these sweet girls home.

NOTE: Their foster mom has generously offered to donate $100 to help waive part of their adoption fee. She notes that the girls are incredibly cute and sweet and is excited to help in finding a good home for these precious girls to thrive in.

Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
