My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 10 years
Weight: 5.11 kg

Old McDonald was found on a farm, ee-i-ee-i-oh, and on that farm he made some friends, ee-i-ee-i-oh. Thankfully, those kind human friends brought this big old stray to CHS, and now that he`s had a vet exam and a well-deserved teeth cleaning, he`s ready to find his forever home! While we`re not sure where he came from or how he ended up on a rural property, we know this lovely boy was meant for a cozy, loving home. Described as a `big lovebug` by staff, it`s safe to say that his senior fellow is a fan favourite. He will ask for cheek scritches with his crochety old man meow, and it`s impossible to say no to that! If you`re looking for a mature kitty with a lot of life left in him, McDonald is your man.

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
