Toad has been on quite the journey... She was staying at a shelter in rural Tennessee, waiting to be adopted. This little shelter was right in the path of Hurricane Helene... Fortunately, the building remained intact, but the entire area was flooded and without electricity or fresh water. The animals were all emergently evacuated to other shelters in the northeast to seek more long-term placement, and that's where Ruff Start stepped in!
Toad has been in her foster home for a couple weeks now. There was a lot of change and traveling in her life in a short time, so it took a couple days for Toad to really settle into her new environment. One thing that Toad has always been comfortable with since she first arrived in Minnesota is affection. Toad loves love and being around her favorite people! She will gladly soak up all the neck scratches and belly rubs you've got to offer! Toad is still a little bit on the "skittish" side- she's not terribly shy or anything, but a lot of movement or noise makes her a bit nervous. As content as Toad is in her foster home (multiple dogs, kids, activity, etc), Toad would be happiest in a more calm environment. She seems to be afraid of other cats, and would love to be the center of attention in her new home!
Toad is the sweetest, cutest little lady there is!! If you think you and her may be a match, go ahead and apply so we can chat! She can't wait to hear from you!!
If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.

If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
