Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family.
From her foster: Rosie is a complete sweetheart. A bit shy at first but is quick to warm up and loves all humans as long as they will give her some love and attention. She also does great with other dogs. She is house trained and has some great basic obedience. Sits nicely and patiently for her leash to get on and off. Also does well on a leash but only goes out on short walks right now to use the bathroom. She does jump when she gets excited but I have been redirecting her to off and she listens well.
From the Vet:
Hi! I'm Rosie and my friends at TBB wanted me to share more about my medical history. I came into rescue with a severe injury to my left forelimb and it has been determined that I will need an amputation. This is scheduled on 11/18. Once I have this removed, the good news is dogs with 3 legs will learn, adapt and get around just fine! May want some joint supplements sooner than later, but this is totally up to my future family and future primary veterinarian. I will need to be treated for heartworm disease over the next few months as well, so my family will want to have some plan in place to maintain activity restriction after my amputation and during heartworm treatment. This will be important for the healing process and for my safety during the heartworm treatment to only allow for short walks or potty breaks outside. TBB will agree to cover the cost of my amputation along with 1 round of medications and a recheck if deemed necessary as well as the full course of heartworm treatment and accompanying medications. Any veterinary care outside of what is in my contract will be the responsibility of my adopters.

More about this rescue
The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.
We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.
You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
