Golden is a beautiful, 2 yr old young lady looking for an extra special adopter. She was transferred from a shelter in Fort Morgan with 4 babies in tow this past summer. After all of her babies had been adopted, it became apparent that Golden was suffering. She was very aggressive with grooming, attacked her back legs & tail and would even unpredictably bite her fosters. So she was taken to a veterinarian, who quickly diagnosed hyperesthesia, a syndrome similar to fibromyalgia in humans. The poor girl was in constant pain! Fortunately, Golden has responded well to medications. Her undesirable behaviors are now under control, and she is a much happier kitty. She enjoys being held or sitting on your lap to receive head and neck scritches. Her favorite thing is having her adorable nose kissed. And like any other young feline, she appreciates a good wand toy and play session.
The perfect adopter for Golden:
• Is caring and understanding
• Cat savvy – understands cat communication
• Can confidently pill a cat – Golden is getting better at taking her pills everyday, but it’s not her favorite.
• Does not have other pets - Other pets do not understand her condition and will likely cause her to become agitated and possibly aggressive.
• Has a quiet home – excitement, loudness, chaos, and change cause Golden to feel uncomfortable and become agitated.
Golden has tons of love to give, and truly a kind heart, she just needs someone who is willing to understand her diagnosis and do what it takes to help her live her best life. Are you the special adopter Golden has been looking for? If so, please send in an application. This sweet girl is ready to move out of her foster home and into her furr-ever home.

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes that every pet should find a wonderful, caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out an adoption application form so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application we receive and will contact you as quickly as possible. A home visit will be scheduled before any pet is adopted to a new home. Once a home visit has taken place and the adoption application has been approved, we will ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement form. Our adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter, veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and foster care. Highly requested breeds help cover the vet costs incurred by some of our other cats, enabling us to save more lives!
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application here . We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!
Please email cats@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can not accept calls at this time.
PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/
Our adoption process is:
1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet.
2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
