Glitter came into rescue from a hoarding situation. Glitter is a Pekingese, about one year old, and 8 pounds. She is learning to live in a home and be part of a family, gentle and loving she is the sweetest little girl. Glitter gets along with other dogs and cats. Older children that are gentle, over 10 years is best. . Pekes will tolerate kids but won't stand for a lot of roughhousing. Afraid of loud noise and will find a place to hide. Glitter wants to shine; she needs a lot of love and confidence building. She had never lived in a house, working on housetraining. Needs a fenced yard, just learning a leash. The thick double coat of the Pekingese requires a good bit of maintenance. Pekingese shed seasonally. Brushing him at least one hour per week will help to remove loose hairs and prevent matting, and an occasional bath will help to keep him looking his best. Mats or tangles can be gently worked out with a slicker brush or metal comb. As with all breeds, the nails should be trimmed regularly, as overly long nails can cause the dog discomfort.

Fees range between $150-$650. An adoption application, followed by a check of references, such as Veterinarian, and a home check and or pictures. After which the board will go over all the information and decide what is the best for the animal.

At present we are a foster based rescue. People are welcome to come meet our animals in their foster homes by appointment. In the future we will have adoption events in our areas.

The founders of the multi state rescue have over 80 years of experience in rescue. We saw the need to use our experience to help and we formed Journey Home. Our love and passion for helping neglected, injured, abandoned, homeless animals is our utmost priority. Educating the communities on the need for spayed, neuter, and vaccines and training as needed. We rely on donations, and fundraisers and grants to help sustain the rescue.
