My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Bambi and I am just as fun and cute as the original. I may be small in stature, currently weighing in at 20 pounds, but I'm eager to prove I can hold my own in a game of tug-o-war with my larger canine pals. I am one smart gal who is very eager to learn. In my foster home I learned how to use the doggie door SO FAST…like in an hour! I am still a youngster though and since I have spent the majority of my life in the shelter without the benefit of a loving teacher, I still make a few mistakes inside the house but I am trying my best to master those skills.
The shelter thought I was a lab mix but the veterinarian thinks I may be some type of Whippet mix. I'm quite a delicate featured gal. I can be a little protective of my food and give a warning growl to my canine friends while eating but I get along marvelously with others otherwise. You might see me admiring my reflection in the mirror or growling at dogs on tv. I’m a sweetheart who loves to cuddle on the couch with my human and give kisses.
Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
