My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for an energetic, affectionate companion who will adore you? Luke is the cuddly Maltese mix (or live teddy bear) you've been waiting for! At two years old, he has a ton of personality packed into his fluffy 16 lb. body. He’s super friendly, trusting, and has the potential to be an incredible addition to someone’s family.

Luke’s favorite thing in the world? Cuddling up with his humans! He loves to be by your side and thrives on attention, whether you’re watching TV, hanging out outside, or “wearing” him while you do chores. His playful side comes out when it's time for a walk, game of tug, or some fetch, but his true love is snuggling close and getting all the belly rubs you can offer.

While Luke is a happy and well-adjusted pup overall, he prefers not to be left alone. With patience and some training, Luke will learn to feel more comfortable when his humans are away. He’ll do best in a home where someone is around most of the time or is willing to work with him on building confidence.

Luke does well with other dogs when introduced slowly. He enjoys canine companionship, but a slow and mindful introduction is key to making sure everyone gets along. He would also likely adore being an only dog!

Luke hasn’t spent time around children yet, so we recommend a home with older teens or adults who can give him the time and attention he craves. His ideal home is one where he’s the center of attention, gets plenty of affection, and where someone is committed to working with him to build trust and make him feel safe and secure.

If you're looking for a sweet, cuddly companion who will keep you company and fill your heart, Luke is the one for you! Apply today to add this sweet teddy bear to your life.

More about this rescue

I.C.A.R.E. is an all breed, no kill dog rescue. We rescue dogs at risk of being euthanized from shelters, abandoned, abused, and stray dogs. We also rescue many owner surrendered dogs; which are dogs that can no longer remain in their current homes due to financial or personal issues. I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue is dedicated to reducing the number of dogs that are euthanized in our shelters each and everyday. We focus on rescuing and rehabilitating them in loving foster homes until they are adopted into their permanent homes. We also focus on educating the public regarding specific breeds, rescue, and general information regarding the canine species. We are a 100% volunteer run and supported organization that cannot survive without the help of loving fosters, volunteers, and benefactors.
