My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Copper could be that dream come true pup for retirees who enjoy spending their time with a gorgeous guy who is so loving and absolutely irresistible. There's no question that Copper would also do well with gentle, dog-loving older kids who enjoy the fun and snuggles that a sweet dog brings to a family.

Copper has been identified as a Miniature Poodle..with Maltese Terrier in the mix for additional cuteness and fun. Texas veterinarians make all decision on breed mix..all we know is that this guy is sweet, loving and absolutely irresistible!

Farfel's wants to make certain that Copper is handled kindly and with respect. He'll return that loving treatment a thousand times over with loyalty and kindness. This little guy is as sweet as can be, silly and playful, and once comfortable in his environment, is entertaining in his silly antics and the love that he wants to share with everyone who is kind to him.

Being a young and super-smart Poodle / Maltese mix, Copper enjoys physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. Once over all the changes in his life, Copper will be a natural in positive reinforcement / force- free obedience classes. These classes are so important in bonding as well as teaching a dog the skills (in a very positive way) to understand boundaries and commands. This creates a well-behaved partner both at home and out in the community. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free / positive reinforcement trainers in your area.

Copper's sad story is all too common. He was picked up on the scary urban streets by an animal control van and delivered to a high-kill shelter where he was scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space. Fortunately, sweet Copper was recognized for his great temperament and after a plea went out to save his life, Farfel's Rescue was happy to step up for this wonderful guy.

Copper may initially be a bit shy due to all the changes in his short life..but give him just a minute (a belly rub and yummy treats are wonderful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it, he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. Copper's Texas rescuers recognized all of this and knew that there was a Colorado home that would fall in love with this stunning guy and desire to make him a permanent and very important member of their family.

At 18 months old and a very portable 15 lbs, Copper is a perfect size for hiking the paths of the Colorado mountains, neighborhood walks (he's a social guy) and backyard fun with his family...and then at the end of the day, sweet Copper would enjoy nothing more than a warm spot on the couch or bed next to his favorite people. Copper enjoys his relationships with other dogs as well and would have so much fun with another playful and gentle canine companion.

Copper would do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. He'll be a committed and loving best friend who would be overjoyed to come along and be part of the fun. He's so pleasant and portable (once comfortable) that he can be a part of any adventure. It can be a visit with friends, a car ride, a vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch. All of this would speak to Copper's sweet temperament and love of his family.

Farfel's isn't open to a home where family members spend their days working full-time outside of the home. We'd like Copper to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Those who work from a home-based office would be perfect for this sensitive guy.

Copper, as his breed mix would support, is a non-shedding guy and a perfect choice for those with allergy concerns. He therefore will require periodic grooming (approximately every 8 - 10 weeks)
and excellent nutrition including 5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement for longevity and eye / coat care. With this care, Cooper will have a cottony-soft coat that is shining with excellent health.

Copper has been fully vetted and vaccinated to fulfill Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. He has also been neutered to support our work in zero population growth in the canine population..

Copper will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 11/22//2024. If interested in this very loving and devoted best friend, please fill out a Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Applications can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Copper please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue

We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
