Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.
A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known.
Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.
Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list.

Date into Rescue: 10/28/24
Reason for being in rescue: breeder release/breeder retiring
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Buttercup is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Buttercup is a doodle. We will never guarantee that a doodle is hypoallergenic or does not shed. If you have allergy concerns, Buttercup is not your girl.
Weight: 54 lbs
Height: 24 in at the shoulder
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Adoption Fee: $599
Fence needed? Yes, Buttercup requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller
What kind of home would be best for me? Buttercup is a gentle and affectionate girl who’s eager to become a part of your family. She came to us as a breeder release, having had three litters in her short four years. Now, she’s ready to experience the joys of a true dog’s life—filled with love, play, cuddles, and plenty of fun in a forever home.
Buttercup would be happy in a variety of home settings, whether it’s with a single person, a couple, or a family. If she’s going to a home with children, we recommend that the kids be mature and gentle with her. Loud noises or quick, erratic movements can startle her, especially since she came from a breeding background. With time, she will adjust, but we want to ensure her new environment is calm and supportive.
Though she's never been tested with cats, Buttercup met a few on a recent vet trip and showed curiosity without aggression. If you have a cat, it's important to supervise their early interactions, but Buttercup has not shown signs of a prey drive. With proper introductions, things should go smoothly.
An adopter who already has another dog would be ideal, as Buttercup would benefit from having a playmate and a mentor to show her how to be a dog and a well-behaved pet. Buttercup was born to share her love. She loves people and will lean in for pets, nudge your hand for pets, and jump up on you, not aggressively, to both give and get hugs.
What is my personality like? Meet beautiful Buttercup a sweet and loving girl looking for her forever home. Buttercup has a gentle personality. She's easygoing and gets along well with other dogs. Buttercup is as sweet and loving as they come. She is the gentlest dog you will ever encounter. Buttercup thrives on human affection and will shower you with love in return. She’s a big girl, so she’ll need a home with space—ideally with a fenced-in yard where she can safely romp and play.
Buttercup is eager to please and will be a joy to train with the right guidance. While she walks well on a leash, she hasn’t had formal training and would benefit from some basic leash manners. She is also working on learning basic commands like sit, stay, come, and down. With patience and consistency, she’ll thrive and quickly pick up new skills.
If you are looking for a loving dog, Buttercup is your girl.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Buttercup is all about love! She will jump up on you to give and get hugs, nudge your hand for pets, and lean her head in for more when you stop petting her. Buttercup is not an aggressive girl—she simply wants to share her love with you.
Other tips and tidbits: Buttercup was born on or about 08/24/20.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.
To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.
Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
Thank you for considering CPR.
