My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Choco: Your Pocket-Size Chocolate Lab Mix Dream!
Do you adore the look of a big chocolate lab but wish they came in a smaller, more manageable package? Meet Choco, the mahogany-colored charmer here to make your dreams come true! Choco sure looks like a Chocolate Lab meets Pocket Beagle, but in rescue, we cannot guarantee breed or age as we do not know their history. At under 40 lbs and around 3 years old, Choco combines the heart of a lab with the compact size you’ll adore. Despite being an adult, Choco’s puppy-like curiosity and affection brings joy to everyone he meets.

Meet Choco here:

Choco is a lovable and loyal companion fortunate to be waiting for his adoption day in the home of a devoted foster family. His foster household is relatively quiet, with 2 teenagers. Choco is perfectly affectionate, relishing every cuddle, especially when he can snuggle up in the kids’ beds or even a lap. He has this cute habit of falling onto his side and raising his leg to expose his belly and he can lie there all day for belly rubs. He is also super gentle, carefully putting a paw on a leg to get attention or taking treats so slowly. He does sleep in his crate as his bedtime is before the rest of the household, and he sleeps soundly through the night waiting quietly in the morning until his foster mom takes him outside. Due to his curious nature, he is also crated with a chew toy to keep him busy when his humans aren’t home.

Choco is medium energy, getting the zoomies now and then and happily sharing a playful moment with his foster sisters before curling up next to you for cuddles. He would love a home with a yard where he can run, soak up the sunshine, and “hunt” lizards and frogs. Choco's foster family includes three female dogs (ranging from 45 lbs to 60 lbs), and he loves them all! While Choco thrives with other dogs in the home, he would do best with a medium energy submissive female. While he adores doggie siblings, he’s best suited for a cat-free home—his inquisitive nature makes kitties a bit too interesting!

Choco loves his daily walks and is great on a leash, especially with a Gentle Leader-style leash. He walks anywhere from one to six miles a day, as a tired boy is a happy boy. On days the weather doesn’t cooperate for walks, he is fine with his backyard time. While Choco is eager to explore the world around him, he can be reactive towards dogs he doesn’t know. His foster family simply prevents meet and greets on walks and has had no issues. Slow introductions to new dogs, patience, guidance, and his eagerness to please will help him work through this.

Generally quiet around the house, Choco has plenty to say about squirrels and enjoys keeping watch! He’s adjusting well to household life and is still getting used to everyday noises (the vacuum is currently his arch-nemesis).
This sweet boy is the perfect mix of charm, affection, and fun. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will keep you loving life, Choco is your guy. Don’t wait—adopt Choco today and let the adventures begin! If you have any questions about Choco or would like us to test him for a specific setting or detail, please be in touch! We can make almost anything happen to ensure he is the correct fit for you and your lifestyle!

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.

Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!

Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.

The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family
Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test

Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!

Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
