My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Snickers - a sweet little pup who was rescued just in the nick of time as a finder was turning him over to a shelter. Our rescue volunteer was at the shelter working to negotiate to pull a boxer who was set to be euthanized in two days and needed a special "rescue only" pull status. Hooray! Not only did the boxer have a second rescue there that day who got to take him out but our volunteer discussed things with Snickers's person and before Snickers was officially a shelter dog he was on his way to be fostered! Snickers is a goofball and super sweet. He gets along with ALL his four-legged foster sibs. He is young and friendly. His beautiful caramel brown and black brindled coat is rich and chocolatey! He has webbing between his toes and our current guess of breed is perhaps a retriever mix. He follows his foster dad around the house and has shown himself to be house trained from Day 1. Snickers is such a love and at just 8 months old has a BIG life ahead of him.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

When you visit FLA at an adoption event, you will see many dogs and cats in need of adoption. We work with all breeds and all ages. Our goal is to match person to pet in a way that compliments temperaments and lifestyles. Here is a brief breakdown of what to expect from our adoption process:
a. Talk with an FLA representative about a dog or cat.
b. Fill out a simple, one-page application form.
c. Agree to a home check.
d. Fill out adoption paperwork, print an ID tag and
take your new family member home!

Once you have adopted from FLA, we remain a support system for you. We are here to answer any questions you may have as you bring your new dog or cat into your home.

Go meet their pets

Let us know if you are interested in one of our cats or dogs and we will set up a private meet and greet.

More about this rescue

We began as a mobile adoption unit for a local humane society and then realized we could help even more dogs and cats in need if we became a 501 (c)(3). FLA Rescue was formed. Over the years, we have met incredible individuals and families who have opened their hearts and homes to hundreds of dogs and cats in need of love and a fresh start. We love it when we get updates - from pictures to visits in-person - from past adopters and adoptees. We believe that people who adopt dogs and cats in need are truly special individuals. We feel lucky to volunteer our time for animals and help people like you find a dog or cat who will bring joy to your life.
