Puppernickel was found stray on a local reservation with a serious leg injury. It was later found he had severe nerve damage & was unable to use his leg at all. Despite all this, he is an absolute dream of a puppy. So loving & happy to see you even if he saw you 5 min ago!
I think he has some sort of an abusive history as he does piddle when he is interacting with people. It is getting better with age & good experiences with people. It's just important to know that he needs some understanding as he improves.
He loves plushy toys, food & head scratches. He is about 99% potty pad trained & when taken outside, knows to potty.
He is getting his leg amputate soon, and I am so excited for him to feel more free to run & play. He is gentle with my children, good with cats/kittens & does well with dogs when in his kennel. He just lets out some warning growls that he doesn't want his special things taken away. I know this will go away the more he is shown consistency & that these new things in life won't be taken away from him.
Puppernickel is from a local reservation. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.

*Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.*
If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
