My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Joyce, a lovely feline resident of our shelter. She's an adult cat with a gentle demeanor that charms everyone she meets. Joyce is a bit on the shy side, but don't let that fool you. Once she warms up to you, her sweet nature shines through. One of our volunteers entices Joyce out with tuna and once out, Joyce becomes curious as she checks out her digs. But, a loud noise will send her back under her covers. She will want to build a relationship with her new family through consistent routines, high value treats, and slow interactive play. Joyce prefers a home without dogs or small children , as she feels more at ease without the noise and chaos they may cause. . . Her next home should be ready to provide a calm environment and let her take the lead as she settles into becoming your sweet cat companion. Some tuna will hasten the process. She's patiently waiting for a family who will cherish her, and in return, she promises to fill your life with warm gazes, naps in their lap and sweet meows.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
