My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Licorice, the sweetest little bundle of purrs with a heart as soft as his sleek, black fur! Rescued from a lumber yard, Licorice has had a tough start in life, and he's still learning to trust the big, wide world around him. This tiny guy might be a bit shy at first, but with a gentle hand and some patience, his true personality starts to shine. Once he’s comfortable, Licorice will reward you with the softest cuddles and a soothing, rumbling purr that’ll melt your heart.

Licorice would thrive in a calm, loving home where he can feel safe and secure. If you’re ready to give a little kitten like Licorice a cozy place to call his own, he’s ready to fill your days with warmth, quiet affection, and endless love. Could you be the one to help this little lumber yard survivor blossom into the confident, loving companion he’s meant to be?

Licorce will be ready for adoption in December once fixed, and vaccinated.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is designed with the pet and the family in mind. We look to make the process as easy and efficient as possible for our adopters, while also preserving the key safeguards that ensure we place our kitties with loving homes they can be sure to stay with forever. Sometimes we may ask for a virtual home visit via video or FaceTime to gain more insight into what kind of kitty will best fit your lifestyle and environment.

Go meet their pets

Paws in the Sand Cat Rescue is a foster based rescue, so all of our adoptable cats reside with their foster families who are located across Orange and LA counties. We have a kitty for every family and locale, so we will work to match you with a feline friend who matches both your lifestyle, needs and location.

We have adoption events at Pets Plus in Long Beach on Bellflower Blvd as well as the Culver City location. Those events will be announced via our social media.

More about this rescue

Paws in the Sand Cat Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of cats in Southern California. Our mission is to rescue cats from high-kill shelters, and rehome abandoned cats, giving them a second chance at life. In addition to rescue and rehoming, we are passionately committed to supporting community cats through Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) services. This humane approach reduces the number of unwanted kittens and promotes healthier cat colonies. By partnering with local shelters, veterinarians and our local community, we aim to create a safer environment for all cats. At Paws in the Sand, we believe every cat deserves a chance. Our work is driven by compassion, dedication, and a commitment to making a lasting impact on the lives of our cat communities.
