Oaks is an adorable, 1 year old Schnauzer mix weighing about 30 lbs and nearly fully grown. He’s still learning house manners, so his adopter should be prepared to puppy-proof the home. With patience and a gentle approach, Oaks is ready to learn and thrive. He loves chewing on bones and toys, and while he can be crated when left alone, he prefers company.
An ideal home for Oaks would be one where someone can spend quality time with him. He’s energetic and enjoys play but is still working on keeping all four paws on the ground when greeting people. Oaks doesn’t jump on furniture and has been comfortable around cats, showing no interest in chasing them. He plays well with dogs 20 lbs and up but can be a bit rough with smaller ones. A fenced yard and a playful dog companion would be great for him, as he respects a 5-foot fence and loves to romp around. He’s responsive when called and eager to please during training sessions, although he’s still mastering housebreaking.
Oaks is taken outside first thing in the morning, every few hours during the day, and before bedtime, where he sleeps on a pillow by the bed. He wears a belly band during the day to help with house training and needs a fenced yard for bathroom breaks, as he doesn’t go on a leash. While he hasn’t been around children, he’s expected to do well with kids 8 and up who understand how to keep their belongings out of reach. Oaks is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention.
