My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi my name is Opal! I was rescued with my three kittens Zircon, Amber, and Amethyst. We were rescued from a parked trailer on a large lot. My kittens had lived there their whole lives. We had care takers there until a nice rescuer kept us for a few weeks before coming to Smittens. I had kittens young so still have that kitten energy myself! I get very excited when playing with toys and often show off my zoomies. I take a little time to warm up, but once I do I love pets and being around humans. Excited to find a place to call my home!

More about this rescue

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
