My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everyone! I am a sweet, young girl named Precious! My owner was moving and I could not go with her, so I have been here at the AHHS since June 2017, waiting for my forever family to come along and take me home. I am a loving cat—if you open my cage, I will come right up to you and give you a big hug and kiss, and jump right into your arms (and your heart, I hope!). I love attention, cuddling, and humans! While I am still a kitten, I am past the crazy, early stage, so I am calm and loving, and I will be able to move right into my new home and start adoring you today. I of course also like to play with toys and have fun! Please hurry over here and meet me—I am ready to bring lots of laughter and happiness into your life forever!

More about this shelter

WHO WE ARE

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) (formerly the Tippecanoe County Humane Society) was founded in 1939 by a group of local animal lovers in Tippecanoe County. Since its beginning more than 60 years ago, the organization has been dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community.

We are not a government agency, are not affiliated with any national organization, and we are not a United Way Agency. We are an open-admission shelter and we accept all animals in need, regardless of age, health or adoptability. As a local non-profit we exist through the generosity of our community.

MISSION STATEMENT

We, the Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS), care deeply about the comfort and rights of animals and citizens within our area. As such, we strive to enhance the relationship between people and animals through education, to control the pet population through responsible advocacy, and to provide sanctuary for unwanted, lost, and neglected animals.

NON-PROFIT STATUS

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) is an independent, nonprofit agency. We are not funded by any governmental or national animal welfare organization. We are a private, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, relief of suffering among animals and the extension of humane education, and we are governed by a volunteer board of directors.
