Hi there, my name is Duke and although it looks like I am wearing a tux I am a down-to-earth lad who likes to have fun. I lived with a family for a few months and things were going very well but unfortunately, they had to move to a place where I could not stay with them. So, although the situation was quite a bummer, I came to WCHS and I am optimistic that I will find a new loving home. I am an active boy who will need plenty of physical and mental exercise every day to keep me in tip-top shape. In my previous home I was able to have play-dates with some neighborhood pups and I have a marvelous time romping with some of the pooches at the shelter in playgroup. I am comfortable in a crate and had my own private cozy den to relax in when I was alone in the house or at bedtime during the night. I knew to go to the door to ask to get outside to use the facilities. So, I understand the concept of house-training and prefer to do my business outside. When I first come into my new home, though, it would be wise to give me plenty of opportunities to go outside until we learn each other’s signals and routines. I am a smart lad and think it would be lovely to take some classes with you; I do need a smidge amount of work in the manners department. When I am happy and excited, I get so exuberant that I sometimes jump up on people in way of greeting and can be a little mouthy. I also need some work on proper leash behavior because I do a fair amount of pulling when I am out exploring with my humans; I am a big strong guy so that can make walks a bit difficult for people. I thoroughly enjoy getting outside, though, and love to go on hikes to scout around and discover new places. I already know the cues for ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘shake/paw’ and ‘kennel up’; I think it would be grand to learn even more human words from you. I like to keep my brain busy so I am a big fan of canine enrichment where I tackle mentally challenging toys or use my fabulous nose to play fun games. I am a friendly, playful and affectionate chap; long snuggle sessions after a fun-filled day are a great way to spend evenings. I enjoy car rides and am always up for a rousing game of fetch. If you are looking for a handsome and noble pooch, I believe your search is over. I hope you stop by to meet
