My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bernie's special needs---He does have a daily and as needed dressing to his head, it does require cleansing and applying a non-adherent pad with Medi honey and hemorrhoid cream on it, then secured with rolled gauze and tape. He also currently has stitches the entire border of his ear that need hemorrhoid cream applied 2-3 times a day for itching. He also currently gets pain medication at night and Trazodone in the am and at night to keep him from removing his dressings and going after his ear. He is in a cone, but soon the stitches will come out of his ear and if he does not remove his head dressing, he can go without the cone, BUT lol I am not holding my breath on that. HE IS EXCELLENT for his dressing changes and wound care!!

More about this rescue

At Cleo's Legacy, we are committed to making a positive change in the lives of homeless dogs. Our organization was founded in 2024, after founder, Alex Siska, lost her soul-dog & lifelong companion to old age.
Cleo helped pave the way for rescue work when she was brought home infested with parasites as a baby. Cleo’s brilliant joy, empathy, and love introduced Alex to open her heart for dogs found on the street and at local shelters. Through volunteer work, we saw a need when we realized there were very few volunteers in the Bracken County area, and even less funding. These predicaments didn’t stop the shelters influx of dog dumps and continued over-capacity.
Since then, Cleo’s Legacy has been dedicated to providing a variety of services for homeless dogs - including fostering, adoption, medical care, and funds toward training. We believe in the power of community and working together to make the world a better place.
