Calico Jack is a friendly and playful cat who loves to run, rub on legs and arms for attention, and snuggle. Her favorite sleeping spot is the hammock on the cat tree, and she's always showing her excitement with an upright tail and cute trills. She enjoys toys she can toss, like springs or mice, but finds wand toys a bit intimidating. Social and outgoing, Calico Jack enjoys being petted and sitting in laps, though she doesn't like being picked up. She also gets along well with other cats.

We have worked hard to make our adoption process as easy as possible. We like to think of the process in four steps: application, phone conversation, meet and greet and adoption day. We will get back to applicants within a few days even if they were not chosen.

More about this rescue

Paws and Claws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the Chicagoland area dedicated to preventing, and alleviating the suffering caused by abuse, neglect, and overpopulation. We help dogs and cats mentally and physically heal, and give them a chance to find love, a full life, and a forever home.

Our focus is on rescuing orphaned neonatal kittens, nursing kittens with their feral mothers, under-socialized cats, and dogs who have been at Chicago Animal Care and Control for too long. We see ourselves as the crossing guards for these vulnerable animals, helping them get from their past, whether that be from a traumatic home, a kennel, or a euthanasia list, to a safe and kind human who will love them.
