My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was born at SDHS after a mother was brought in.

At SDHS:
This pet is now ready for their new home!

Why this pet is the one for you:
What is cuter than a baby? And, if it is a baby guinea pig, there is probably nothing cuter. Bobby was born in our care so we know he has had a good birth, good care and is now prepared for his new home. First, let's talk about that cuteness. His beautiful brown coat with the perfect tan face marking is unique. Or maybe you could call it a buff marking. Whatever, it is adorable. Some would say that guinea pigs make perfect pets because they are relatively low maintenance while providing great entertainment with their funny sounds and antics. Bobby, as a baby is the perfect age for socializing with his humans. Hold him, pet him and he will become use to you and may even like time on your lap. He will tell you when he has had enough. He will need a spacious enclosure with bedding material, a small box for hiding, a place for his private business and plenty of water and food - especially timothy hay. He may be better with a companion guinea pig. Want a new baby to love and cuddle? Maybe want two? Come to our San Diego campus and ask for Bobby.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
