Maple Syrup is a gentle and sweet pup looking for a home where she can feel safe and loved. Though timid at first, she’s quick to show her soft and affectionate side with a little patience and a gentle approach. She’s most comfortable when you’re on her level, and some soothing baby talk works wonders to help her relax.
Once she feels safe, Maple leans into the love, standing closer and building trust step by step. She’s looking for a calm, understanding home that can offer her the encouragement she needs to blossom into the loving companion she’s meant to be. Could you be the one to give Maple Syrup the sweet, secure life she deserves?
Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Maple Syrup at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering her.

had the pleasure of taking Maple Syrup out tonight. She is a sweetheart! We were outside in a run and yes, she is timid, but she shows promise. I had a handful of treats in a flat, open hand (I didn't want to dump them in the dirt for her to eat) and she almost took them she kicked my hand once and sniffed the treats.
She did like to look at other people and dogs walking by.
I really think she would do great in someone's office for a couple of hours or something. She isn't a huge fan of the noisy kennel area. I think it's a bit much for her. But if she can hang out in someone's office, in a big fluffy comforter or something, and get to feel comfortable with that one person, I think she would really open up and feel better. I think it would go a long way towards helping her come out of her shell here. I really hope there is a list of potential office dogs somewhere because she should definitely be added!
11/11 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:
KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Maple was lying on her bed trembling with wide fearful eyes. While fearful she was soft towards me though and allowed me to reach in and slip the lead over her head without issue.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally
HANDLING:
In the room Maple was timid but sweet! She explored and then came and sat at my feet. She was very nervous when I reached for her and lowered her head and body, but remained tolerant. After petting her for a couple seconds she became a lot more comfortable and soft standing up and walking closer to me. She was much more comfortable when I was on her level vs standing and did well with a gentle approach and lots of baby talk. Very nervous at this time and needs a lot of encouragement
PLAY:
No interest
TOYS:
No interest
Medical Notes:
Per an intake exam on 11/10: Her eyes were a little red with a scratch near her left eye, some redness near her stomach, dandruff, and scratches near her nose and back left foot. Staff noted her to be "bright, alert, responsive and very nervous.
