Meet Cayuga, the big, affectionate goofball who’s ready to fill your life with love and laughter! This lovable “unit” of a dog adores being close to his people—whether it’s rubbing against you, climbing into your lap, or doing happy toe taps for butt scratches. He’s full of personality and will keep you smiling with his playful, affectionate antics.
Cayuga is eager to please and knows “sit” and “paw,” taking treats gently like the good boy he is. While he can get a little overzealous with his affection and playtime, his enthusiasm is part of his charm.
If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion who will always keep you on your toes (and probably sit on your lap), Cayuga is the big for you!
Eligible for rescue and adoption. Meet Cayuga at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Cayuga has no concept of personal space: https://youtube.com/shorts/9TG7BGzXRV0?si=5zkLxGott0YWlZvY
Behavior Notes:
Per staff 11/11:
KNOWN HISTORY:
Police Pick-up
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
In the kennel, Cayuga was asleep and came running over very wiggly when called over. He was easy to leash and came right out. When returning Cayuga was fairly fixated on other dogs and pulling towards their kennels.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls heavily, VERY strong
HANDLING:
In the room, Cayuga was walking around sniffing and greeting the handlers with soft eyes and a wagging tail. He is a unit of a dog and loves to rub all over you, climb all over you, and does cute toe taps for butt scratches. He falls onto your lap and rubs all over you, being super affectionate but is a bit rough with how much of his body and how much he wants affection. He takes treats very nicely and knows to sit and paw.
PLAY:
Aroused, Throws his body into you and can get a bit mouthy and jumpy
TOYS:
Interest but no possession
Per volunteer 11/10:
I was chosen and honored to take Cayuga to the photo shoot. This boy is big and strong and a puller on the leash so I harnessed him with no issue. He allowed me to put the leash under and around him, like we were old friends.
We walked to the yard, where he wandered around casually - no running or barking or bad behavior. He seems to be housetrained and had no interest in toys. He didn't sit when asked, but his knowledge of the sit cue might be there, b/c he had a small butt movement that looks like he knows how to do it.
He really opened up when another volunteer came to meet him. Cayuga immediately greeted her, but unfortunately he decided a quick jump on her as his greeting was fine, so that is a behavior where he will need some guidance. The jump was not aggressive, just his friendly hello. Then he just leaned into her for any pets he could get. He was popular at the shoot bestowing his body on all who wanted to give him pets. He is a big smoosh with no concept of personal space - just wants to love on anyone.
He is a big beautiful boy with those romantic eyeliner eyes, and an adorable smile.
He was comfortable with all the handling and gave me no issue returning to his kennel.
