Meet a pet POTATO!

Spud!

Breed: Chihuahua
Age: 2 years
Weight: Small enough to fit in your lap, but full of personality

Bio:
Have you ever wanted a pet potato with a voice? Well, meet Spud, the tiny chihuahua with a BIG personality! This little guy may look like an Idaho favorite, but don't be fooled-he's got the confidence of a dog three times his size and a heart that's even bigger. Spud is all about the love and adoration of his humans. He's the type of dog who's always ready to greet you with excitement, charm, and maybe a little bark of enthusiasm. Despite his small size, Spud's presence is impossible to miss!

Personality:
Spud is the definition of "big things come in small packages." He may be tiny, but he's got a personality that will light up any room. He LOVES people-whether you're a stranger or a lifelong friend, Spud's ready to give you all the affection you can handle. He's playful, attention-loving, and always eager for cuddles, making him the perfect companion for someone looking for a dog with a lot of character. Spud's tiny stature is matched only by his bold spirit-he's not shy about showing off his love for those around him. If you want a dog who's as spunky as they come, Spud is your guy.

Fun Fact:
Spud's nickname could be "the chatty hashbrown." He's got a surprisingly loud bark for such a small dog, and he's not afraid to use it when he wants your attention. Whether he's alerting you to a potential squirrel sighting or simply demanding some lap time, his voice will definitely make an impression!

Ideal Home:
Spud would thrive in a home where he's the center of attention (as he deserves to be!). He'd be perfect for someone who loves a spunky, affectionate dog who's always ready to shower you with love. His ideal home is one where he's lavished with affection and gets plenty of playtime and attention. Spud is great with people and would do well in a household that's ready for a dog who will keep you entertained with his quirky charm and endearing personality.

If you're looking for a pint-sized pup who's packed full of personality and love, Spud is ready to be your little voice of joy!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We hope you meet your four-legged love at SPCA Florida! Our goal is to help you find a companion that best suits your household. We have wonderful animals available and a great deal of information to share with you.

Adoption Process
When you arrive at the Adoption Center we invite you to take a look around and meet the animals. We encourage you and your family to spend time with each pet you are interested in to see which is the best fit. Our trained staff and volunteers are happy to answer questions about the animals and provide you with whatever background information we have regarding that pet. Please keep in mind we do not always know all of the adoptable animals’ history or background depending on how they arrived at SPCA Florida.

If you currently have a dog at home we recommend you bring him or her in to interact with your potential new dog.

When you find a pet you would like to adopt the next step is to fill out an Adoption Application, which will be reviewed with you by one of our trained counselors. The counselors will answer any questions you may have. If the pet is already sterilized he or she can go home the same day, otherwise the surgery is normally scheduled the next day and the pet can go home the day of surgery.

Adoption Fees
Adoption fees vary depending on species, breed and age. The fee includes:

•Spay/Neuter surgery for unsterilized pets
•Dogs are dewormed, tested for heartworms (if negative they receive a 30-day heartworm preventative; if positive a certificate for treatment paid for by the Guardian Angel Fund) and receive vaccinations for canine distemper, adenovirus type 2, parainfluenza, parvovirus and Rabies
•Cats are dewormed, tested for feline leukemia and feline aids and receive vaccinations for feline distemper, rhinotracheitis, calici virus and Rabies
•microchip
