My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Gurgi!

Gorgeous, Playful, Affectionate

Gorgeous Gurgi is bound to make your heart melt! This sweet little girl is all love and play. Gurgi starts out shy, but once she realizes you're a friend, she'll be purring and making biscuits in no time. While not a particularly talkative gal, Gurgi will greet you when you get home with a few adorable chirps.

The first thing you'll notice about Gurgi is her incredible coat. Her unique multicolor patches are an absolute showstopper-especially her solid black nose. She is incredibly soft and an absolute joy to pet! She'll start purring as soon as you start petting her too!

She is also very enthusiastic about her play time and will waste no time getting into the game. Be sure to gather up some toys before her arrival because she was born ready to play with all of them! She is also quite the explorer and won't hesitate to thoroughly inspect the area from top to bottom, especially new smells and closed doors. While sudden movements and noises tend to spook her, she is quite confident in her own movements and will happily jump to the top of the cat tree to survey her surroundings.

Preferring to be on the move, Gurgi likes to make what her foster describes as "drive-bys for some head and cheek scratches. If you reach out your hand, she will happily force her head into it for some pets. She's quite wiggly and not a huge cuddler, so the pets may be brief but frequent. She's an independent kitty who is still affectionate and makes frequent check-ins for scritches. This gal also has a big motor on her, so you won't have any trouble hearing her lovely purrs!

Gurgi has stomatitis which is an inflammation of the mouth. It is typically resolved through removal of teeth and supportive care. She currently requires some extra medical care which may include medications and a wet food diet. For more information, please contact APA!

Gurgi has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, "FeLVies are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. Gurgi can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care.

Gurgi would most likely enjoy a calmer home where she can feel safe and comfortable enough to express her loving and silly sides without hesitation. A patient person or family who can provide her with the space and time to make herself at home would make her so happy. Her foster thinks she would do well with older children who can respect her space and will have patience for her to get used to them. While she is content to play independently and amuse herself, Gurgi really enjoys chasing a feather on a toy wand as well, so someone who can help fulfill her need for play would be best.

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
