My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pitaya's Story

Pitaya was rescued from a hoarding situation in Southern Kentucky in August. The property had over 40 dogs, and Pitaya was one of them. She arrived in our care infested with fleas and ticks, dirty, and nursing a litter of 8 newborn puppies.

Since then, Pitaya has been treated for fleas and ticks, tested for diseases, and has weaned her puppies. We've learned a lot about her, but her past has left its mark. Pitaya is a nervous dog who requires a patient and understanding home.

Important Requirements

No Children: Pitaya cannot be placed in a home with kids, visiting or resident.
Privacy Fence: A 6ft privacy fence is mandatory. No exceptions.
Female-Only Household: Men make Pitaya nervous, and she may fear-bite.
Existing Dog: Pitaya prefers a home with another dog for companionship.
Cats: Pitaya gets along with cats but needs to be separated when left alone.
Limited Socialization: Pitaya won't be a dog for public outings or crowds.

Despite these challenges, we know Pitaya will thrive with the right owner. If you think you can provide the patient, gentle home Pitaya needs, please fill out an adoption application. Her foster mom will be in touch to discuss further.
