My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Nugget Sauce-also known as Nuggie-a sweet and happy little dog with an adorable personality! Nugget has experience living with cats and gets along well with them, though he can sometimes get a bit too excited, so a home with social cats and good management would suit him best. He's both pad-trained and outdoor housebroken, making him adaptable to various living situations. Nugget is a good traveler, though he might feel a bit nervous in the car, so a seatbelt is recommended. Despite his small size, Nugget prefers to walk on his own and isn't too fond of being held-he's a confident pup! He'll make a fun and loving companion for the right family.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
