My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Instead of just a ‘Weekend at Bernies’ (I know, I know, it’s an old movie reference some of you won’t get) - but how about giving him a forever home instead? Bernie would love the chance to meet you! He’s a 7 month old, 42 pound, Shar Pei mix. He’s been described as a social butterfly who is “king of the dog park.” He adores running and does great on jogs - so he’d make a perfect running partner. He is current on vaccines but has not yet been neutered. He’d do best in a home with older kids and younger, similar sized, dogs (if you already have resident pups) due to his energy-level.

He’s an owner surrender through no fault of his own. It’s because of a change in the family environment and financial situation so they can no longer provide him a healthy and safe environment to grow up in. He’s currently located in MD but arrangements can be made for him to be brought to an adopter in a nearby location (e.g., NJ, PA).

More about this rescue

Friends for Life Animal Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)3, volunteer-run, foster-based Rescue (no facility).

Our focus is to save the lives of dogs and puppies in high-kill shelters in the south and local owner surrenders.

Our mission is to place unwanted and in-danger animals in homes, regardless of age or breed. To educate the public and help stop animal cruelty and neglect.

We don't discriminate against potential adopters on any basis or for any reason. We approve potential adopters if they are and the animal they applied for is a good fit.

Extra Info.-
*If a dog is listed on Adopt a Pet, they are still available, and we accept applications. We approve applications on the best fit for both dog and family.
*We take our best guess on breed and size when fully grown.
* Our dogs are adopted from their foster home or straight from transport from kill shelters in the south.
*We always need foster homes so we can continue to save dogs. Don't hesitate to contact us if you are interested in fostering. Or fill out the foster application using this link - https://form.jotform.com/210257395409155
