My story

Hi there! I’m Benni, a gorgeous 11-month-old German Shepherd with a striking bicolor coat. I may still be a pup, but I’ve already mastered some important skills—I’m housebroken, crate trained, and I know “sit” and “down.” I’m a quick learner, especially if treats are involved (I can’t resist them!).

I’m great with other dogs and love having playmates, but I haven’t had any experience with cats or kids yet, so I’m still figuring those out. When it comes to walking on a leash, I could use a bit more practice; I get excited and might pull a little, but I’m eager to learn and improve. I'm also learning how to stop jumping on people but I just love meeting new friends!

My foster mom says I ride really well in the car and sleep soundly in my crate at night. I have a medium energy level, which means I’m always up for some fun, but I can also relax and enjoy some downtime. If you’re looking for an enthusiastic companion who’s ready to keep learning and growing, I just might be the pup for you. Let’s meet and see if we’re the perfect match!

On our homepage we list the names of the dogs that are expected to be at the event - check 1 or 2 days before the event.

More about this rescue

GHGSDR volunteers are dedicated to saving as many German Shepherds in the Greater Houston Metro area as humanly possible - based on current resources of available foster homes, the rate at which we can find suitably matched adoptive homes, and of course, financial resources for veterinary care.

GHGSDR Shepherds mostly come from animal shelters where they are awaiting euthanasia. All of these Shepherd Dogs need loving, forever homes and families to call their own. We have several GSDs available for adoption and we regularly take in more Shepherds under our wings and into our Rescue Program, increasing the numbers of dogs available for adoption. Whenever we can, we also work with other dog rescue groups in Texas and nationwide to help ensure the safety and security of these wonderful animals.
