My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Luca is a very special boy. A remarkable puppy that has proven he is a warrior and has the heart of a lion.

Dirt Road Doggie's Rescue was made aware of a sick puppy in our local shelter. We suspected it was Parvo even though he tested negative several times. Without rescue his fate was death. No other options. Three days after we pulled him from the shelter he tested positive for Parvo. He was immediately hospitalized. He has made a full recovery ‍ Luca is healthy, happy and thriving in his wonderful foster home. His body is now immune to this horrible virus.

It's always heartbreaking to witness the suffering of a young puppy that was abandoned, discarded like garbage. Malnourished and broken, living each day with a miserable skin condition likely caused by deplorable, filthy living conditions. In spite of all this Luca is a sweet, delightful puppy. Curious and playful, he is ready to experience all the joys of puppyhood. It appears he is going to be a big handsome boy!

He is microchipped, vaccines are up to date and neutering can be scheduled when age appropriate.

Adoption is a four part process.

Application: You will be required to submit general information along with personal and vet references.

Home visit: Potential adopters will receive a home visit by one of our members.

Meet -n- Greet: All family members (fur babies included) must meet the foster parent and pup they wish to adopt.

Here at Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, each adoption contribution is a flat rate per dog. We do not adjust this rate based on the "popularity" of a dog. We believe every dog is worthy of an owner that sees the value in them. Each adoption contribution is used to cover the expenses incurred for that dog and other dogs in our program.

Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, INC is located in the quaint town of Gillsville, in the foothills of the Georgia Mountains, just south of Gainesville. Our rescues are fostered in loving homes located in Hall, Jackson, and neighboring counties.

We are a small canine rescue group located in Northeast Georgia that works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, fully vet, and re-home faithful dogs that have been tossed out of cars onto rural roads. We are a registered, 501c3 tax deductible Non Profit Rescue and we are licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture

All dogs in our program have been previously reported to animal control to ensure they were not lost pups who had a family diligently looking for them. We do not turn a dog away due to breed, health concerns, or age. It is our goal to keep these dogs out of animal shelters, thus saving their lives and providing more time to the dogs already in shelters to find their forever family.
